I have a young and quite small orange thick lipped gourami. He swims around and eats normally but in the evenings and occasionally during the day he hangs at the surface in one corner of the tank, very still. When we first saw him do this we thought he was dead.
The water parameters are ok although I have to change the water frequently to keep on top of the nitrates and a couple of days ago I carried out a phosphates test which came out quite high. We have high phosphates in the tap water in my area.
The other fish in the tank act normally including the other (smaller) thick lipped gourami.
