Nutrafin Cycle

Hi Guys,

I was thinking erlier, does this stuff actually do anything? it says that you should do a weekly dosage for and for tank maintenence. But then i thought, this stuff comes bottled up, probably been sat on the lfs shelf for god knows how long with temperature fluctuations, is the bacteria not dead? If thats so are you not just adding "waste" into the tank.

Just wandering, especially as it costs £11 a bottle!!!

How many of you use it at all? how many of you use it on a weekly basis like it claims you should?

youre absolutely spot on , its just another pointless overpriced , completely useless waste of money. a thing far too prevailant in this hobby im afraid, save your money

Spent £11 on a bottle the other day

I have a bottle of the stuff, it is handy and does have minimal effect on eliminating nitrite and ammonia.

When I put some fish in my 55 gallon I had an ammonia spike and lost my mono

I bought the cycle and did 50% water change my readings for ammonia and nitrite were 0 within 24 hours, I'm convinced the cycle influenced it.

So it's in my opinion it's good for emergencies but not for cycling a tank!

I have heard mixed reports on the stuff. I suppose it would depend on how long it has actually sat on the shelf. If it were manufactured and sold with a short period I could see it possibly having an effect. However, due to the cost and mixed results it usually sits there for a long time.

Even with the odd bottle that works, I would say just do a fishless cycle and save your money. Fishless cycle's work 100% of the time.

Hi I think this product is great. I use it and have a great tank. Pro's it does work and you can add fish after 3 days but i still wait a week. As for the cons it is expensive via shops but I got a 2L bottle on ebay for £30.00 saving of £50 also remember that product does not cycle your tank it creates mini cycles and that why you need to keep using it. If you cant wait to add fish then this is for you but the old way is still the best.

No I don't LoL. I have just found that it works for me. But still think the old way is better I can't wait that long
