just to keep you updated, i have now had a corydora catfish die on me so did a water test immediately which resulted in ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate 5.

as for whitespot it seem to have gone, so fingers crossed it wont come back.

now to get rid of the bloody horrible algae!!

Start a thread in tropical discussion now about your algae problem.
Good Luck.

how long should I now wait before carrying out a water change as my tank is desperately in need!!!

If you have to preform a gravel vac and water change just add the correct amount of med back to water removed.

well thyings with the ich seem to be getting better, but ive now lost a corydora catfish and another one this morning was starting to float and it was trying to keep itself on the bottom.... could that be to do with the ich or possibly with having the heater turned up to 29 degrees?

im stuck.... where do we go from here?

What med are you using.
Sometimes you have to half dose with corys as they are very sensitive to parasite meds.
Is there plenty of aeration in the tank. Fish can cope with higher temps if there plenty of aeration.
R.I.P.

RIP Tomato

the med we are using is made by Interpet called anti white spot, it was a decent name which is why we got it.

we have Loads of aeration from the fluval which spurts out loads of bubbles in the outflow from the filter(have a look at my signature and you'll see what i mean)

What are your present water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

AMMONIA 0, NITRITE 0, NITRATE 5 but the test was done when the tank was full of algae mand it has since had a water change so nitrate should now be slightly lower.

as for oh, gh etc etc this was also done when the tank was full of algae prior to water change but it was done with the litmus paper type strips which all showed in the safe/ok zones :good:

that brown algae will eventually go away...common in new setups or new decor where there is "fresh" silicon. if you realllly hate it, try to clean off as much as you can before you do a waterchange. like i said, it eventually will go away.
good luck!

thankyou.

its just so annoying as we eventually got our tank stable and it was looking so good then this happens and fish start dying and it feels like we're back to the beginning again

well, the algae has reduced a little bit so still thinking we need to get something which ets the algae....

but now also another corydora catfish is dead

i feel like im back at the beginning now

Have you added another filter to the tank.
Bless Him. R.I.P.
