Hi

I have a Fluval edge 23 l tank, I have one siamese fighting fish 6 cardinal tetras,  four small fish about ½ long all are orange, black and white striped, all bottom feeders and 1  algae  eater about 1 ½ inches long. I am terrible with the correct names of the fish.

I want to know if I can put 6 more cardinals in the tank?

I'm afraid not.

Your little tank is already badly overstocked; just the fighter and the cardinals would be pushing the stocking to it's limits

If you can put some pics of the unknown fish up, we can identify them for you, but the algae eater is almost certainly not suitable and will probably have to be rehome, sooner rather than later.

Sorry that's not what you want to hear, but these tiny tanks need very carefully chosen stock, if they're to work a all. FWIW, my son had an Edge with six male Endlers and a couple of ghost shrimp, and that was fully stocked (and Endler's are much smaller than cardinals).

Thanks mrs Treguard

The fighter will be re-homed in about a month into my new 46 litre tank when it is ready for fish, and if I can catch him the algae eater will go with him, I have tried photographing the fish but they are all camera shy :-(

Thanks for your help. when I have taken the two mentioned out can I replace with six more cardinals?

Really, for the good of the fish, no. Six or seven small fish is all you can keep comfortably in an Edge.

that tank is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over stalked already! no more fish!

I'm afraid that you cannot add any more fish.

It would be best if you could rehome your cardinal tetras, as they are active fish that require a 20 gallon (75 Litres) tank.

What is the algae eater?
Do any of these look like yours?

These are the most common algae eaters. Unfortunately, none of them are suitable for either of your tanks.

What are the bottom feeders?
Are they a type of cory?
Do they look anything like these?

How big do you think they are?

Do the orange, black and white fish look like these?

Really, none of these fish are suitable for your tank

It would be best if you could rehome them all. Have a look at THIS thread for ideas on what you could then stock (Can only have one species with specified numbers in your tank from the list).

EDIT- Forgot to add chinese algae eater picture.
