Right, so my dad has a 45gal tank, which he used to stock with:

1 RTBS
1 tyretrack eel
1 delhezi bichir
5 clown loaches
2 common plecs
1 bn plec
3 headstanders
1 platy
1 swordtail
1 dwarf gourami
2 opaline gourami
1 syno
5 congo tetras
1 bala shark
1 elephant nose

I convinced him to get rid of the common plecs, bala shark, and elephant nose. 2 clowns died and i took one opaline gourami for my tank.

So the current stocking is:
1 tyretrack eel
1 delhezi bichir
3 clown loaches
1 rtbs
3 headstanders
1 platy
1 swordtail
1 dwarf gourami
1 opaline gourami
1 syno
5 congo tetras.

The syno is bullied so bad by the RTBS, and everything elses fins are ripped to shreads by the headstanders.

My dad is going on a cruise in july with my mum, so it will just be me and my sister here.

I was thinking of taking a lot of the fish to the lfs when he is gone, and getting new, more appropriate ones? Do you think I should do this? I have tried so much to convonce him to do it, but he wont. I'm thinking of getting rid of the headstanders, the eel, and the RTBS at least. If they are still all alive lol.

So... should I do it? =/

I would def. do it. Obviously, he doesn't have the respect for the fish that you do and you should go ahead and give them a better chance at life.

Some things you just gotta do, i'll buy the tyre track eel lol.Howw bigs it?

lol oli, i have no idea. I havnt seen the whole thing for about 6months, it doesnt come out of the bogwood. but im guessing 10"?

Yep, I would do it. I did something similar with the tanks at school. IMO they where unsuitable for any living thing. I took care or them for one school year and offered to get rid of the fish during summer break. Absolutely nothing was done to the tanks during the break, not even removal of dead fish :( . The teacher said I could take a few home at the end of the year, went I went to get them she wasn't there :shifty: . So I caught as many fish as I could, but focused on the ones that really needed help. Including a 12" common pleco and a locally caught Yellow Perch that hadn't eaten in over 4 months. The perch was skin and bones. I released him back into the lake, hopefully he made it. The others went to a good LFS.

Okay, im going to do it

I will post you the eel, Oli. Most of the others will be going to the lfs, bar the delhezi, the bn, the congos and the syno.

Im assuming that the platy and swordtail will be dead by then (both very old). If not i will move them to my brackish tank.

Thinking for swapping all my fish for three reedfish? Then move my one from upstairs, downstairs and the bumblebee cat.

So:

4 reedfish
Delhezi bichir
Syno
Bumblebee cat
Bn plec
6 congo tetras

I think that should be more or less fully stocked. :good:

And then i will tell my dad that i woke up one morning and the water was all cloudy and 1/2 the fish were dead, and the rest died through the day. And I couldnt bear the emptyness so I went to the lfs and got 3 reedfish! haha :good:

I suppose it srounds reasonable...ish

Wooo free fish  You'll have to do next day delivery or whatever, i'll sort it out with you anyways.
45 gal is a bit on the small size for an adult delhezi. You owe me a birchir
God dangavichba I need my 270gal set up.
I can't go on msn because on this comp I deleted the screen names and its saying my msn doesn't exist -_-

No don't do it. However, you may want to start a thread asking people whats wrong with that stocking, and when there are enough replies, show him the reasons. Nuking it without his knowledge, don't do it. He may not be cheerful, to say the least, and I know you mean well, but doing would be a violation of your fathers trust. Again, you have good intentions, but please don't do it.

Oli, who said anything about free? :p

And I think a 45gal is fine for a del? they get to about 14" and the tank is 16" wide. So should be okay? I think. lol.

(just used the Aquarium Calculator, it's 188 litres, 41 imperial gals, or 50 US gal :p)

i also think the del needs a rehome to a larger tank. you could replace it with a senegal or something.

Senegals can actually get bigger than dels. Im not quite sure how that would make a difference.

Some websites say delz need a 50gal, some say 55gal. This is a 50gal so I think it's okay. As long as he can easily turn around, he's staying. Thanks for the idea though :good:
