Now With Test Pics!new Fish Added To My Tank Die Within 24 Hours..

After finishing the treatment, did you put carbon in the filter to remove any medication left overs? How many water changes since and how big? If you haven't added a carbon pad or whatever type of carbon fits in the filter, get some and run it for a couple of days before introducing new fih. Also, do an 80%-90% water change before adding the carbon.

Edit: Don't spray anything inside the room with the tank, especially air freshener or deodorant. At least for a while.

i may have made a newbie error there..(slaps forehead) i didnt but new carbon...i just thought as they say carbon is ok for 6-8 weeks that my carbon was "new-ish" so i just put that back in the filter.... shall i slap my self?? im going to town immediately for new carbon,
ive done LOTS of water changes..ranging from 75%(before the algae blackout) to 15% ...
do i get the lfs to test for copper?

The new carbon will also help remove something else that your tank maybe contaminated with. Once treating with copper, you can't have inverts in the tank as there will be always some in the gravel but fish should have no problems and a huge water change, siphoning the gravel and adding new carbon should remove any dangerous ammount. Make sure you dechlorinate your water well, double check the dosage and make sure you put enough to remove not only chlorine, but chloramines too as the dose maybe different. What dechlorinator are you using and at what dosage?

when i do a WC i use stress coat, it says 5ml per 40 lts...my bucket hold 10 litres so i use about 1.5-2ml per bucket...
ill get some new carbon and put that in, ill do a huge water change before adding the carbon
isnt a cory an invertabrate? ive got a cory and a plec...i see the cory quite often he "seems" fine..they both survived the protozin treatment, the higher temp for 10 days and they out live any new fish :good:

No, corys and plecos are not invertabrates. Snails and shrimp are.

ive got 2 zebra snails too, theyve been here for about 4 days..they ok...she says.........seen 1 move had to check the other one yesterday...will check they are still alive again though..........

In your case, I would also try a dechlorinator that removes chlorines, chloramines, ammonia and heavy metals just in case. Seachem Prime is one of these types. Api stress coat removes chlorines, heavy metals and breaks the bond of chloramines to chlorine and ammonia, but will not take care of the ammonia released. If you water has chloramines, you need to go for the extra type dechlorinator.

Or at least try double the recommended dose of dechlorinator. Also make sure the water you are adding is temperature matched with the one in the tank.

so shall i just use seachem prime rather than stresscoat?......

Honestly, I haven't tried it but it has a very good reputation as the best available dechlorinator apparantly and I see no reason why.

ok ill go with that, i need some more due to the often WC's....thanks for your advice....ill change water treat with seachem...add carbon....and wait and test.....

I just thought of it but it's odd that only a pleco and cory have survived. Both of these fish are capable of breathing oxygen from the surface in low oxygen enviroments unlike most other fish. It's possible your tank is low on oxygen. Is the filter rippling the surface of the water enough? Do you have anything else, like an air stone?

Ive got the filter near the surface, it makes a slight splash and ripples the water, ive had it with more of a splash before but thought thats what killed 3 guppies...too much current?....im pretty sure im oxygenated.....going to do my daily tests when ive done the kids toast. Fully expecting ammonia or nitrite...lots of people say they dont think my tank is cycled.....its been almost a week since my last water change....odd that ive not seen any yet? Do you think an air stone is a good idea? I have tubing and a brick....id just get a pump this afternoon, its no problem......??

Ammonia 0 nitrite0 and nitrate result looks a tiny hint darker......after a almost a week of no WC and no ammonia or nitrite yet the nitrate seems to get higher in the last few days...my tank is cycled?

If you are using API liquid tests to test nitrAte you need to shake bottle too very well for a minute, and then both solutions for about 30 seconds at least.
With a pleco and a cory and week with no water change you should have had ammonia or nitrIte if your tank isn't cycled.
For oxygen, try positioning the filter outlet so it ripples the surface very well. Generally you don't need an air pump additionally if you filter is strong enough and pointed well to do that. But if you like an air pump it won't hurt as a back up sometimes, if something happens to the filter one day when you are not around for hours, at least the fish won't suffocate.
