Now With Test Pics!new Fish Added To My Tank Die Within 24 Hours..

Make sure the other snail is Ok. As rotting snails can turn the water toxic.

Post in the right part of the forum about how to tell when a snail has passed away.
I don't know anything about them. They creep me out.

If you don't add anything more to the tank for a week and your readings are [0, 0, rising] then I would say it's cycled. Any sign of ammonia or nitrites though means it's still cycling.

ok ill have to go snail hunting...not my favo creature either....
can someone look at my ammonia test pic(previous comment with pic) does it look like there is ammonia present?

I would say that your ammonia reading more near 0, than 0.5.

I would think with a plecostomus in there if the tank was cycling it won't take too long before you get a strong ammonia reading. Leave it 24hrs between when you last did a water change and test just before you do the next one and let us know.

ok so here is my nitrate test result...hubby went to lfs after work bless...

didnt do a WC today...so ill retest tomorrow and see if there is a difference.. but saying that my plec is tiny he is about 1.5 inch if that awwww

What's that....around 20ppm? If so that's fine, if it gets 80ppm+ you need to worry ;)

Plec s are poop factories, big or small :)
ahhh mucky buggas eh..ok ill retest and post pics tomorrow...thanks for your advice and help... :good:

if i knew of a cycle at all i would never have put any fish through this hell... :'( i hate lfs!!! poor fishes...

ammonia and nitrite are 0 again today, same result for nitrate...is this normal...i thought my nitrate would have risen a bit...

Nitrate only become harmful to fish around 100.
Your tank nitrate reading should be around your tap nitrate reading. It's fine.
Nothing to worry about.

I would stop doing any water changes for the moment and just monitor the water parameters. If ammonia and nitrites stay 0 and nitrates start climbing then the tank is cycled. If you start to get ammonia on its on you're at the beginning & if you get nitrites + ammonia you're about halfway through.
