Now With Test Pics!new Fish Added To My Tank Die Within 24 Hours..

White cloud? If so a bacterial bloom, quite normal in a new tank that's settling.

If there was no obvious damage to the plec then it probably rules out infection and points towards water quality issues (which is what we thought).

Just take it slow and add carefully so as not to overload the filter.

so 1 cory is ok?...tomorrow? or sunday? i dont want to get more than 1 i think

If a snail have died, then high copper deposits is highly likely too. They don't die so easily. How did the pleco go into the filter? How big was he?
It was better if you did a 70-80% water change at least just in case. Tomorrow, make sure you test ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte as well. The nitrAte should be rising, especially if you don't have live plant there.

i had 2 snails, one is still alive, for deffo! :good: so i was thinking copper poisioning was off the possibilities list??

i asked lfs to test for copper...they dont test for that

Test your water tomorrow morning, if all good do a big water change before going to get new fish (make sure temp is matched as good as possible).

If anything is abnormal then continue with water changes until stable before adding anything new.

It's a strange case altogether. It could be something in the water, it could have been low oxygen levels. Also, since you've treated for white spot I'll just mention that corys can't get infected with white spot, plecos do but then the snail death is a mystery(fish dying from white spot don't necessarily have white spots on them) I am out of ideas.
One cory it is then to try, if it dies, return the surviving one and sterilise your fish tank and do a fishless cycle with ammonia with brand new sponges. If it comes to that, open another thread and you'll get plenty of advise.

What decorations do you have in the tank? Can you post a picture or a video of your setup?

ill test the water in the morning and go from there then....

i see no rush in getting new fish anymore if im honest...they all die and its awful to see...i know the bioload of my tank is tiny as ive only got 1 fish and 1 snail...but surley i can add more fish...1 at a time if need be...later on?

You surely should be able to add 2-3 fish at a time with no adverse effects if the tank reads fine tomorrow. Just because so many died, money wise as well it's probably better to try with one. I personally would have added 2-3 corys from the same kind at once if it was my tank but I would have tested for ammonia and nitrItes every 2 hours  and my face would have been printed on the outside of the glass
The pleco may have died from internal organ damage from the fish in cycle and all medication, the whole lot of stress. Not many fish survive a long time after a fish-in cycle.

Slow additions are easily absorbed by the filter once it's up and running.....one fish a week shouldn't cause any issues at all but once things 're back on track you should be fine adding a couple at a time.

ohhh poor plec, he was only tiny..an inch n half at most!! ...i think your probably right, im going to test tomorrow and if all is ok then ill get 1 cory...if he dies too im going to restart this tank! its obviously got some mysterious illness/toxin that new additions cant handle....and i WILL do a fishless cycle :good:

heres my tank now...looks a little better...and although i love the real plants with bogwood and sand tanks i have a 3 year old that wants a pirate ship in the tank haha...ill just have to deal with plastic for a bit

Tell me about it.....the conditions put on me by my wife in order for me to start up my marine reef again were:

1) Buy the kids a tank (now filled with spongebob ornaments and plastic plants)

2) Set up the 260l tank so she can have African clawed frogs (at least I was left to aquascape that one myself)

:)

african clawed frogs??? **claire goes to google**

ive just seen where your from..thats where i moved to a few years ago, met my husband and came back to yorkshire with him...good old aberdeenshire eh! too bloody cold for me, but i did manage to keep a fish tank running up there for 2 years! :hyper: no mysterious toxins in aberdeens water haha
