nothing special

catch some live food and culture it for a few generations at your home, then use the cultured foods for the fish.
I've considered this, black worms specifically

I have had a go at culturing black worms, they seem to take a long time to get established
as Colin T mentioned setting up your own daphnia culture it's quite easy to get it started.
I have a number of daphnia Cultures running in my fish room and outside i've recently set up another 4 large tabs it's almost as easy to culture than collecting it

i will probably breed the green one to a blue male, it will be interesting to see if I get any green males from them
a quick update spawned bettas Yesterday

yesterday I decided to remove the male betta, and a quick count of about 20 fry which is a good number to grow out in a 60l tank
