Well as some of you may be aware I've got myself a new 48x15x18 tank with stand and goody's this will be built onto a stand of my own in my front room and my 36's inmates moved over in a day! watch this space for the big build.

Nothing like Nav's but bigger than I've ever had
Any tips would be great!

I'd have some long conversations with Miss Wiggle and Ian since they went through the process. My two reccomendations are:

Be prepared
Do it on a weekend

You'll need a lot of time to do everything and patience. Also make sure you have more supplies than you plan on needing:

Buckets
RO
Salt Mixed Water
Towels, LOTS of towels
Extension chords
Power strips
More buckets
Superglue gel and/or reef putty (cause something may break)
Make sure the new tank is setup for holes and sump and any other plumbing you may have to add. Heck, you're a plumber, so use unions and valves and such when mocking up so that you can move the new tank into place, screw down your unions and bam your plumbing's ready.

And last but not least, have that 6-pack ready and waiting in the fridge for when you're done 8)

Yes, prepare the towels. We have a saying around the lab where I work, "Its not dive science until there's water on the floor." You my friend will have lots of science when you move tanks :D

science eh! :D my fav!!! we'll see

Get that 6 pack ready and a nice chair because you'll need it. I'm getting a 1GB card for the camra for the pic and every one id going up!

word of warning to south og the UK might have another water shortage! come roun d with your buckets to collect!!!

Right what would you do I have two plumbing plans here would you have a look and see witch one would be better??

Option 2 in a heartbeat. If something leaks on one side you dont have to turn the whole system off to service it. Option 2 is also much more adjustable which is especially necessary for the SH tank. I'm always a big fan of servicability and adjustability :)

may i just ask what a SH tank is? oh and i wish you well with your project and your tank look very good :)

Yeah, id be more inclined with no. 2 myself. As for the reasons Ski said, definately a safer design, which can be tweaked easier. :good:

Well the tanks been washed out and the G/friends on board now :good: :good:

Got some of the plumming bits in and a friend of mine have given me a 4x5 sheet of light blue stick back plastic to use on the tank insted of painting it.

The RO is building up with over 120liters now in storage. Getting a bucket of TMC salt off a friend for £35, but I'm going to use a mixture of Red Sea and Reef Crystals that I have first.

On the leccy front got 2 new 4' T5 actinics and a ehime 2215 external for carbon and/or phos remover (saving the girlfriends tights) Got a new 2500lph return pump. and an other 200W heater.

Need more Coral sand and looking for some good bits of LR, going to do a reef slope one end of the tank and a table/platue thing on the other side.

not realy much of an update but got the drill bit today so drilling will be starting soon.

All shiny and new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mat when you make your sump put the skimmer on the side of the rufigium closest to the return.
You dont want the pods from your sump going through a skimmer it will kill 99%of them

Other than that looking good :good:
