Sounds great! That wood is awesome!! The gravel adds to the natural feel and effect. How big do these get btw? Are you hoping to breed if they will?

they,ve been known to get up to nine pounds, but one's in mountain streams here have a type of dwarfism where they don't get but maybe seven to ten inches at most..don't think they will spawn in captivity but you never know i guess

I thought they stunted because of lack of food. Brook trout have a voracious appetite and since you will be feeding them regularly, you should expect them to grow too big for your tank. We have the same problem in Alberta with the brook trout but I'm surprised that Montana would poison a stream as it would kill off all the fish in it and destroy the ecosystem. They would have to essentially start over again. Pretty drastic stuff but maybe a necessary thing to re-establish the native species(western slope cutthroat trout, bull trout, arctic grayling, rocky mountain white fish, rainbow trout, etc).

Ya they want to kill off the brookies so they can plant the native west slope cutthroat, which is a species of concern here..They are pretty too, but I still love the brookies.. A hydroponic (sp?) water chiller is definitly the next thing on my list to get for them. They have thrived well suprisingly in the room temp water thus far, probably due to the fact that we haven't had crap for warm weather here..lol Went yesterday to a local stream and caught a ton of mosquito fish for them and they totally gorged themselves lol fat happy lil trout now
