Today I got myself 6 freshwater angles of various types, and a few other fish (Emperor tetras, Corys, and Bolivian rams)

2x Gold marbles
1x Pearly Gold
1x Silver
2x Altum Angels

The top 4 I bought from a shop, the 2 Altum I got from my mate because they were eating his guppies.

The question I would like to know the answer too is they have displayed a bit of aggression/nipping the 2 Altums have there own wee group and so have the other 4 will they get over this initial territory struggle or is it because they have already made their shoal? Also their colours seem to become more vibrant when the 6 of them meet in the middle of the tank, could I be misinterpriting the aggression for some sort of pairing off thing?

The rest of the fish seem unconcerned by this and are not being chased it just seems to be the angels..

22"tall but only 3foot long ATM getting a 4foot x2 x2 built soon.

I had only expected to have the 4 smaller angels until I had it made but my mate was desperate to be rid of the 2 others before he lost all his guppies.

The aggression seems to have died down in the last hour to virtually nothing, I will keep an eye on them for the next wee while and hopefully get the bigger tank soon.

Hi UW and welcome to the forum, good to see that they have calmed down.

I have a Q for you, how long have you had the tank - just wondering how long it has been set up and if it is cycled?

Paul

had the tank 10 days now, was told all the stuff I had to buy and which filter system and all that but this forum is the first mention of cycling I have come across.

I can't say that I would have set the tank up like a pro, but I followed all the guide lines the lad at the shop said. set the tank up leave for about a week with all the water treatments then when settled buy fish.

none have kicked the bucket since this morning so fingers crossed they are all good.

yeah lol the only place that would be large enough for a 6x2x3 is right in front of my main south facing window not an ideal place, my livingroom is an odd shape.

You will need to keep a close eye on your tank water chemistry EFG. You are likely in the not so enviable position of having an uncycled tank to deal with. A fish-in cycle can be done with minimal impact on the fish but it will take a lot of work on your part to be successful. There is a thread on fish-in cycling that will tell you how to do it. I have a link to that thread in my signature area.
