I tested my water a few days ago  , and the nitrite was in the "stress" level( I think it's .25 or .5 ppm, probably .5). I'm not sure what the number for the ppm was. I changed the water, on Saturday, and it still did not go down , so I changed it again Sunday and again yesterday ( only about 10-15% each time) it stilll has not goe down. A week ago though my ammonia went up very little, and I did a water channge, and it was down again. It hasent risen since. Is this nitrite rise part of cycling ( I've had my tank for about a month) and is it normal... By the way, if the nitrite gets too high, what should I do? Will a water change help..it hasen't seemed to have done much of anything yet... -_-

Hi Christine and welcome.

If you haven't done so already have a read of my article (follow the link in my sig) for the background to your question.
