We've just got a nitrite spike (and the A-bacs have managed to go from re-dose to 4 to 2 ppm in 48 hours).
1)Do we do a partial water change to bring the spike down or just leave it alone?
2) when do we go to 2ppm ammonia? Is it when they managed to do 4-0ppm Ammonia in 12 hours or is it now whilst the N-bacs are coming up to strength?

Many thanks

Miles

What's the context?

2 ppm after original dose of ammonia drops to 0 ppm for the first time.

No need to do a waterchange on a fishless cycle, leave it alone to do its thing :)

KK - we've been doing a fishless cycle for ages and then got some mm and saw a drop from 4 to zero ammonia. We re-dosed to 4ppm and 48 hours later we're at 2ppm and also have a nitrate spike.
Do we need to do anything now?
When do we go to lower level of ammonia (ie 2 rather than 4ppm)
Thanks
Miles

Please post your log of daily test results.

+1 log of daily results, but it sounds like now is the time to start dosing 2 ppm. Also, because of the mature media, your cycle should be super quick now.
