Emergency help,
Everything has been going well, I have been checking levels weekly, doing a 30ltr change weekly on a 123ltr tank.

Yesterday I put my bog wood in, which has been soaking for 2 weeks, with a 3 or 4 soaks in the sink with boiling water.

And today I checked the levels and the nitrite has shot up. Could this be from the bogwood?? Or just a coincidence

I fed them a mealworm tab this morning, would that make it spike ?

I've just done a 50% water change, but that's me out of water thats has sat for 24 hours to get rid of chlorine.
I've re filled all my bottles now to do another 50% tomorrow.

Anything else I can do?

I dont have alot of fish, 3 Rosie barbs, 5 black widow tetra and 3 Cory. Had the tank a few months.

Do you have chlorine or chloramine in the tap water?

How long has the tank been set up for?

Have you cleaned the filter recently?
If yes, how did you clean it?

Take the driftwood out and put it in a bucket of water. Test the water first and make sure it doesn't have any ammonia or nitrite in. Then add the wood and wait 24 hours before testing it again. If the wood is producing ammonia, it should show up within 24 hours.

The ammonia tested OK.
