I've checked my water quality in my 10 gallon and my 20 gallon.

The Ammonia isn't really that bad in either. .25-.50 but with the .25 in the 10 gallon with just 2 fish in it. A sunfire or sunburst platy female and a recently added female guppy.

The Nitrate has me confused on the 10 gallon, my 20 gallon hasn't been running that long yet so I can understand it's high reading. The Nitrate in the 10 gallon is reading 10-25 which I know isn't good but I'm not showing any nitrite yet either in this aquarium. I haven't changed the filter in it since I changed it in the first week of July. Yes I have plans to do a water change in it since it's been running for a week with the water I just checked. Can anyone tell me maybe what I might be doing wrong or is it just my aquarium. I am using the API Master kit to check the water.

My PH is also at 7.6.

You have me confused. How long have the tanks been set up? How many fish in each? When was your last water change? I am assuming you are doing a fish in cycle but have read the pinned topics?

Unfortunately any ammonia over 0 is bad, I suggest a big change in that tank.

What do you mean change a filter? You need only rinse it out in old tank water, do not change or replace.

The 10 gallon which is the one I'm worried about has been running since the beginning of July this year. Right now it holds 2 fish a platy and a guppy both females. It started off with 6 platies and a pleco, but all but one platy got moved to the 20 gallon a couple of weeks ago. I'm about to return the female platy to the 20 gallon due to the fact I had moved her to drop and I don't think she is pregnant now. The guppy looks like she is about to drop any day now I'm hoping she sure looks squared. By saying I haven't changed my filter I haven't replaced it with a new one. I have taken a toothbrush and lightly went over the top of the filter and cleaned it and the little black piece that is in front of it. It's a aquatech filter for a 5-15 gallon tank.

The 20 gallon has been running about 3 weeks now and that's why I'm not worried about the fact it has no Nitrites, but since the 10 has been running 2 months there should be kind of nitrites. The 20 gallon started with 5 platies but one died. I just bought another sunfire/sunburst (?) platy and 2 more guppys and added them to the 20 gallon plus moved my son's guppy in there since the kids can't keep to our agreement on the fish.

Shot my daughter's 2.5 gallon that has 1 betta in it and been running since last month has probably a little to much Nitrites in it the water is nice and purple. The 2.5 gallon does show nitrate though still.

The water all the aquariums has been in there about a week. I changed the 10 and 20 gallon's water today since it was due, I do still need to do the 2.5 gallon with the betta in it though.
