Newts In A Paludarium

How would I clean out newts in a paladarium, there wouldn't be lots of water to shiphon, would the siphon still work?

My toad is in a paludarium, and I have found the best siphons are the ones that you pump...with like a bladder/balloon type thing attached to a length of aquarium hose...do you know what I mean? They work well, but tend to need replacing fairly often due to little air holes along the moulding lines.

As long as the end of the siphon/bucket is below the water it should sihpon just fine.

I'd have about 4-5" of water in there.
