Well last night I was looking in the tank and noticed a tiny little thing moving near some slate, looked closely and it was a tiny fish! Then I started noticing more of them, ever so curious exploring around.

Anyway I was wondering if theres any particular things I need to do to help them out? They seem to have been hiding under the slate pieces and in the pebbles so I assume thats ok hiding places? Also seem to be pecking at bits of algae and Ive been cruching up flakes for them is that ok for them?

My first fish babies lol Ill try and get some pics soon :)

Congratz! I always love that feeling of finding the little babies. I think they are doing great if you would like to leave them. If you think they have enough places to hide then they could stay in the bottome but if you're worried you could take them out. If you'd like to take them out, I would suggest getting the rest of your fish out and searching the bottom of the tank for the little guys. But I think crunching up the flakes is a great idea but it really depends on how the water flow is so the babies can get to them. Good luck though!

Crushed flake is a fine food for newborn livebearers. They are not as demanding of ultra-small food as typical egg layers. Unless you have a very small adult population or a very high amount of cover, you will probably end up losing most of the fry. Livebearers do not exercise parental care the way that cichlids do, so there is no protection for the fry except the fry hiding themselves. Generally people will remove the fry if they really want to save them. Breeding nets make a decent sheltr for the fry while they get big enough to survive in the main part of the tank.
