What are you resolutions? I’m not a huge New Year’s resolution kinda person but always like to listen to others!

I have only ever once kept a resolution. That was many years when my resolution was to not make resolutions. ;)
Really easy... Most of us do that anyways even after making resolutions lol

none of mine have been “resolutions” they’ve more closer to goals. My goal for this year is to sell 10-12 paintings, just about one per month. It’s not a resolution because sometimes no matter how much resolve you have you can’t make something happen. But it’s something I can strive for and work for

Hope you can do it!
Do you have an idea of what your next piece of art will be?

No idea. I’ve been having reallllllyyyyy bad art block lately. Not just for inspiration but also all my skill has vanished 😂
It also doesn’t have to be new art. It can be originals I’ve done previously. So long as it’s an original and not a print it will count!

Aw man... Sorry Juice... Inspiration comes and goes. You'll get something going eventually, I know it!
And your skill hasn't vanished I bet. I'm no artist but when you lose the inspiration and drive to do something, you also lose a bit of focus on how to do it which can make things not as good as they normally might be...

You'll get some inspiration. Give it time.
Have you thought of trying to paint landscapes?
You seem to do lots of animals I know, but maybe a landscape would be a twist that you need. Could spark some things as well idk...

I very much dislike doing landscapes. I’m halfway done with one that my deadline is late January for, but it is certainly not a typical landscape :)

Ahh ok...
Is there a reason you don't like doing them? (Just curious)

Not really. I’ve done some before. Just not my thing. If I got a commission of one I’d do it, I CAN do them, they just aren’t my thing. Don’t feel like landscapes represent me as an artist well

Yah that makes sense... Just may not fit your style/personality. Totally makes sense.

I'm not big on resolutions, either. Never made sense to wait until an arbitrary date to make changes; I'd rather just pray for wisdom regularly and try to be better as I go along. A few goals for 2023 include making a sinew-backed bow from all-locally collected materials (and maybe killing a tasty, hoofed mammal with it next fall), getting my foot healed and getting back in running shape, and a few spiritual-relational goals that are a bit personal for this venue.

I am also making peace with some resolutions and dreams that just aren't going to happen. Letting go of such things is a difficult part of the transition from young man to older man. For example, I am finally making peace with the reality that, no matter how hard I try, I am probably never going to be Viceroy of India.

Skill does NOT vanish. :) You MAY be having a block but the skill is still there. I remember way back when I wrote application software there were times when I'd have something not working. Beat my head against the wall for days then wake up in the middle of the night with the answer. Get up and run to my computer and solution was done.

NEVER doubt your skill! Mayhaps there are things going on in your life that are causing you to not see your skill but it is still there.

It’s more the skill that I’ve learned doesn’t flow naturally sometimes. I get that way when I have art block but also when I’m working on a piece (usually a commission) that I’m not particularly interested in or inspired by. I can paint but it’s much harder and very frustrating.
