hello, I just started my new tropical fish tank. it is a 100 liter tank with canister filter(480l/h). I have in it 6 danio zebra and 1 pleco. which fish do you recommend me to add next? (I don't want livebearers). how many fish in general I can put ?
thanks

have you cycled? ie adding ammonia?

or did the pet store tell you to leave it to stand for the water to go stale and then add fish?

if you did cycle well done :)

but i need this info.

the generall rule of thumb for a new tank 6 months or less, is 1" per US gallon, zebra danios grow to 2" so youve got 12" of fish so far. but do you know what species of pleco you have? if its comon take him back to the local fish store and demand a refund, as these things can get to 2 foot.

im guessing your pleco is young and small around 3"

so youve used 15" out of 12"

Welcome to the forum Diamond. As Truck said, it would not be a good idea to add any more fish until you get the tank cycled. If you decide not to return all of your fish, there is a link to how to do a fish-in cycle in my signature area. It is more difficult than a fishless cycle but can be done successfully. If you have a common plec, it will get too big for your tank and it would be best to return him while you are cycling anyway.

if you like the danios, you could get white cloud minnows.

and as long as you dont want livebearers, you should get tetras, im a fan of all tetras myself and i also dislike livebearers.

I would recommend lemon tetras or black skirts which are both fairly hardy

You shouldn't for at least 6 months, as during this time your water stats stabilize, you get used certain aspects of keeping fish, and they prefer more mature, stable water conditions.
