Hi there guys, I'm new to this hobby and I hope you can help me through this. I will start for a 50G tank.

My 1st question is do I really need an Overflow Box?

You don't need an overflow box. It is a filtration option, not a necessity. For a 50 gallon tank, I would suggest a canister filter. It could well cost more than the tank, but they're easy to set up and clean, and they have a much bigger media capacity than a hanging filter.
