New to cats- will my carer adopt one for her family?

So last week, My carer and I to Petbarn O'Connor near Bunnings Warehouse and a few other stores. I saw a pretty female tuxedo cat named Marmalade and she was a year old and needs to be adopted. She's having a discussion with her family (except her dad because he's divorcing with her mum and allergic to cats) about having the cat with the dog (Miley) they have currently. Unfortunately, my brother's allergic to cats too, so we can't have them in our house. My carer said she'd love to have a cat or two one day. Will my carer adopt the cat at Petbarn? The adoption fee is $250 AUD.
