Just did a lot of reading, the only thing that is toxic to your fish is ammonia gas. So on the API master kit, a total ammonia at 1ppm doesn't even add up to .25ppm toxic ammonia. Correct me if I'm wrong. But to do a water change without giving the bacteria "food" to grow would be the wrong way correct? Just want to clarify. Water currently is at a total ammonia of 1ppm, fish are doing well, eating well and seem happy. Like I said, want to make sure I do it right. No fish have since I have put them in the tank after using TSS, tank is clearer every day. Thanks.

Mine hit 4ppm when I first started the hobby all I could do is do water changes everyday, and use tetra aqua safe in your water that you refill then hit the tank with the tetra safe start, keep that up an you can't go wrong I have 3 tanks and that's all I use on all of them. Don't let all of the hard work just now put you off, my water lasts a week an half before I need a 50% change, but I just do 25% weekly all done by pond pumps its easy !!!
