Hmm. Let me dig into my files and see if I can find a contact. Looks like I had more than just a couple of features...age is a terrible thing! FAMA was combined with Aquarium Fish International Magazine (AFI) in December 2010. The transition was not smooth in that, when FAMA was sold, many of the authors were not paid. I was personally out thousands for many features/columns that were published. There were letters sent around from the authors about litigation but I wasn't interested. I think many of us were doing if for more than the money.
Julian Sprung is a source. He owns Two Little Fishies down in Miami. I still think someone connected to Gene Lucas will have what you seek. Perhaps the Drake University Library, or someone in the Betta community. Gene might have given his collection to his daughter but I have no idea how to contact her. He lived in Ankeny, Iowa so that might help. Another outside chance is Patricia Crews who was the number two person at FAMA until it sold. One last idea is the Museum of Aquarium and Pet History in San Luis Obispo. The owner, Gary Bagnall is a prime mover in the pet industry. Gary might actually be an excellent resource. Hopefully, you wont strike out but if you do, please let me know and perhaps we can dig deeper. Good luck Steve!
