I am moving all my existing fish into the 55 gallon

Just move all the media too then. Shouldn't be any mini cycles as long as you don't leave it hanging about out of water for a long time or anything.

Now when you said "don't add any fish for awhile" how long is a while

I'd keep at eye on your water stats for a couple of weeks, then if you're going to add any fish add them gradually.
