New Tank - I Got My Fish!

yeah, its a great way to get diseases/parasites... any nasties that are in the fish store....

whenever I purchase new fish.. after about an hour 1/2 of drip.... i net them out and dip the net(with fish) into a bowl of my aquarium water then they go into the tank...

i also dont so much do the drip technique. i just put a glass of my water into thwie bag every 15 mins or so.

Out of curiosity - is this a fair description of the drop technique? (might try it from now on):

place fish (in or out of bag?) in a bucket or similar on the floor next to tank.
get an air line or similar, tie a knot in it, put one end in the tank and the other end in the bucket.
Suck on the end to start the flow, and adjust the knot so it drips slowly into the bucket
leave it for a good while
then fish out the fish and put it in your tank

Yes, that's it Timmy. Its a nice technique. The most recent times I've brought new fish home, I've been acclimating them to the Qtank while I was doing the weekly maintenance on the display tank, so I've been puttering around the room and its been easy to do just what you described - use a cup to simply add a little bit of tank water to the small container I have the incoming fish in. I find it works just fine. I do do the net-to-tank technique as the final step, as described. WD

1.5 hours... I thought i was pushing it with adding a couple of jugs (well. A tiny plastic cup i have), of tank water every 15 mins then adding the fish after 30 mins. Now i know differently i will be taking much more time over it.
