Right... seeing as my one of my black widow has an incurable condition and will soon be on his way. I'll be giving up the rest of my tetra (barr my penguin tetra) and replacing some stock.

Now my pearl gouramis (being both male) are starting to fight, so they are also going to a new home.

So here's my replacement stock ideas:

1 Male three spot gourami (I already have 2 female)
1 Female golden gourami (I already have 1 male & female)
2 Bolivian Rams
2 Peppered corydoras

and if I have enough space, possible another 2 golden panchax

Sound good?

what size tank you got? and what else you got in there? corys like lot of friends i have been told?

my sig has my tank details  but I'll say anyway:

My current tank set-up:

120litre tank medium/heavy planted tank. Tank buddies include:

1 Male betta, 2 Pearl Gourami, 2 Golden Gourami, 2 Three spot Gourami, 2 Golden Panchax, 2 Bolivian Rams, 6 Corydoras, 1 Bristlenose plec, 1 Algae eating loach, 6 Khuli Loaches, 1 Penguin tetra, 2 Black widow tetra, 4 Cardinal tetra

and its been like that for a long time. So any comments about my betta being in an inappropriate enviroment, please keep to yourselves. My betta has never had any problems and is still top fish in the tank.

sorry being a bit bumb? it may be pushing it a little the gourami are a fairly big fish when fully grown. you have a good stock list in there and i wouldn't want to over stock your tank. may be a few but not all imo. have you got any pics?

There will be pics soon... once I get my digi to work. You do make a good point about over-stocking, but if I'm replacing the pearls with 1 three spot and 1 golden gourami. I'm only losing approx 1" of space on each fish (pearls growing to 4/5" and three spots 5/6")

I'll keep the thoughts of more panchax kept away for a while until I know what space I have available. TBH I need to remeasure my tank. Because that tank size was based on medication calculator (which made it 120L, but this site makes it about 125L)

The actual dimensions of the tank will help calculate stocking, as I dont know if its just me, but I find it hard to visualise how big 120 litres is. On the other hand if you say its 3'x1'x'1 (for example) I know how big that is.

It's approx (and I will re measure it up when I get back from work tonight)

L 120cm x W 30cm x H 35cm which would make it 126L according to this site's calculator. Those are the internal measurement if I remember correctly. Add 8mm to the measurements due to glass thickness to get the external measurements

OMG OMG OMG THE BETTA OMG THE TANK OMG THE ENVIROMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol sorry couldn't resist :p

As far as your replacement stock sounds things should be alright, however I'd hold off getting more Golden Panchax until you have a larger tank, if you chose the corys get atleast 3. Hope things work out, let us know :)

Lol  there's always one. Well the 2 peppered corydoras I want to get, will be joining a group of 6 corys. 4 Bronze and 2 Peppers.. hence why I want to get 2 more peppered corys. Hmm as for the panchax, I suppose (going by the 1" per 1 gallon rule) 2 3" panchax will require 6 gallons or 27L..... So I would need a 160-200L tank... :( doh!

Ahh well. I'll be happy enough with a good cory army :D
