why not siamese fighter ,(small) clown loaches and some rasboras or black neons.
or just one male fighter and make him the centre of attention

No clown loaches. They need 100+ gallons for a good sized shoal If I were you, I'd just go with a betta, or maybe a betta and a few pygmy corys. If you decide against that, the tropical chat can help you with stocking ideas.

the tank is 8 gallions.

i may put some loaches in but i just wondered what to start off with if i didnt put a betta in and just wanted something pleasant to look at which is quite relaxing.

i do like guppies but breeding wise they can go a bit mad!!!

is it quite easy to get female gourammi's

i know how to sex them but all i am seeing ar males

i have had quite alot of luck breeding them in the past but lost the female a while back to old age

I like the various neons. The small ones make a nice shoal and are pleasant to watch. A good sized shoal would be ok in eight gallons.
