"A new species of tree that is not thought to grow anywhere else in the world has been found on an island off the west coast of Scotland.
Two specimens of the newly-named Catacol whitebeam (Sorbus pseudomeincichii) were discovered by researchers on the Isle of Arran.
The tree is cross between the native rowan and whitebeam", full story (with pic of tree);

Wow i never imagined that they would discovered a completely new unique species of tree, and so close to home too! Usually when i read news articles on new discoveries of plants and animals, the new discoveries are always located in some distant tropical forest etc, so i find it unusual and interesting to see that they are still discovering new things like new species of tree's in well-known/explored places like Scotland
.
It would be interesting to see more pics of the tree, particularly its leaves, i wonder if they will do something similar with this tree like what they did with the Wollemi Pine (also nicknamed "dinosaur tree") to help raise money for conservation (i believe they auctioned some of the tree's they grew from the wild ones off to help fund wildlife conservation);
