"Tens of thousands of migratory birds are facing starvation in South Korea, the UK-based Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) says.
The group says a land reclamation project has destroyed key wetlands used by the birds on their way from Asia to their breeding grounds in the Arctic.
Without the food at the Saemangeum wetlands, on the west coast, many of the birds will not survive the journey.

This is a very saddening story for me, to see such an environmental disaster because of mans priorities for himself over the future survival of so many animals. And its not just Korea where these huge projects on the environment for mans imediate benefet are causing thousands of animals to die or go extinct, these kind of situations are happening all over the world at the moment- the tragedy that these birds face is not unlike the bleak future that so many aquatic animals face due to things like major dam systems in places like China and across the rest of the world;

I think there should be better, stronger and stricter laws put into force to help protect these vast and increasingly rare types of habitats that support thousands of types of animals. We're destroying so many habitats across the world, and we're not replacing the ones lost even hardly enough. Eventually, not only the wildlife and enviroment will suffer for this huge habitat loss, but ultimately we will suffer in the long term and pay the price for our self-centered actions in a variety of ways as the world becomes more polluted and the life on it dies off.
