I thought I was coming to the end of my problems with my dwarf gourami, but now he has new and exciting symptoms. Brief recap- he had two white cysts that looked like ICH but weren't. He was treated with many medications, but the spots stayed for well over six months.

One of the cysts disappeared. The other finally fell off, but left behind a large open sore. It isn't bloody, just pink and scaleless, but it's starting to look darker around the edges. He also has black patches on his gill covers and cheeks- it doesn't look like a fungus, but actual discoloration of the scales.

He's still active and eating, though sometimes he spits his food out several times before he's able to swallow it.

I've added salt to the water and started him back on Maracyn 1. I'm thinking I should maybe switch to Metafix or Permafix? I'll take any suggestions. I don't think its dwarf gourami disease, as I don't see anything about cysts with that.

I'm hopeful if I can just get him over this last hump, he'll finally be "healthy"- though I don't think I'll ever risk putting him in with the main tank, since I still don't know exactly what he has.
