Lock Jaw Question

My last adult A. cacatuoides has developed lock jaw. He can’t close his mouth or swallow food. Tank parameters are find with a nitrate level of 5 ppm. He lived in a black water 20 gallon long with a dozen N. marginatus as company. I removed him from the water and using a flashlight examined his throat. No obstruction identified. He does have a small abrasion on his right gill plate. So I assume he has columnaris. The rest of his body looks fine. I placed him in a hospital tank and performed copious water changes over several days. No improvement. I started kanamycin and the last dose was today. No improvement thus far. He hasn’t eaten in 2 weeks. Any suggestions before I euthanize him?

Silence from the TFF? That is most unusual. Is there anyone on the forum who can shed light on this disorder?

I've only once experienced this and it was with a goldfish who inhaled a piece of gravel which I fortunately was able to coax out. Given that you've already eliminated that as a cause, I have no clue. So sorry.
