im getting a 21 gallon very soon (as soon as the cabnets sorted) and im planning on redesigning from my old tank! i have whipped up a concept, let me know your thoughts!

the plants are - HC, Abubias Nana / Petite, Some little Lily plant thingy, Banana Plant, Four Leaf clover, Java Fern, moss ball on wood(all plants i have currently)

it wont look as lush as this no doubt but hey, one can dream lol

im planning on having the tank on 2 levels, a sandy beach at the front - then a slate cliff with caves, and the plants/wood behind that

im looking for a substrate thatll help my plants grow, is fine but not so fine i cant anchor plants in (like the current issue im having with HC and sand)

any suggestions etc?

Looks good, i have used Tetra Complete and the new Tropica substrate, the plants are growing well in both types, both are fine though so not sure about holding the roots in sand ,i have fine Gravel on top.

Someone's a bit swish with their drawings :p Usually it's just a few coloured circles. It's a lot easier to see what you plan this way though.

Where's the HC going? It's a carpeting plant but i dont see any green carpet?

ahh, its going on the second level (above the slate) hard to work out on a front view - ill be sure to post a journal when my new tank arrives!

 yeh nice picture! We can see exactly what you're planning on doing!

As for substrates eco-complete or ADA ones, or there is tropica which is a base layer so you can put anything you like over the top, like small gravel.
