new otto-plants

Hello Everyone:

I just got some Ottos for my 20 gal tank, (algae prob) they are so cute and I love them

But I just read that they NEED live plants.

I really don't think I'm ready for live plants should I return my little guys? I brougt them
tetra Min wafers and I plan to give them lots of veggies.

Can I keep them??

I have ottos that live in a tank with live plants, as well as ottos that live in a tank with fake plants. ottos like places to hids and things to eat, but as far as i know they do not "need" live plants. your ottos should be fine.

It may have been me that said that.

I have read many times that otos appear to need live plants to ensure long term health and survival.

There is information on Planet Catfish but I can't get into the site right now to give you a link to it.

I will add it later, dunno what's up with it at the minute.

Man these little guys eat a lot of Algae!!

My 20 g tanks is almost spotless and and they are working on the silk plants!
My betta/cory tank- all the algae is GONE. its only been 24hrs!

Well, I drop down som algae discs if they are still hungry...hope the find them LOL
they are so used to eating off the glass

I'm still amazed at how fast they cleaned my 20g they must be tired
