Hiya everyone..Last week I was at my local LFS saw this little guy.. Went back today and he was still there..So I decided to buy him (was a toss up between him or a female) ..The guy that served me was pleased that I bought him, he said "Aww im glad that your taking him I didnt think he was ever going to go"..

Here is a few pics of him, as you can see he is rather fat..He is very active, swimming to the front of the tank when I go by  He is a little cutie.. I really dont want to lose him but I know that something is not right with him..! If anyone could help me I would be very pleased.. :flowers: xx

Thanks for looking..xx

Id hate to mention the "D" word. But he seems to be very bloated on those looking down shots
I hope he isnt ill. Hes gorgus!! Congrats on taking him home.

Is he eating OK? Active? Keep us updated.

Im not that sure if he would have been overfed.. He was in a tank with a mixture of other fish.. He is still active this morning swimming over to see me.. I gave him 3 pellets last night and he ate them quite quickly so he is still eating.. Thanks Nemo, Ozgrrl and Mel.. :good: xxx

yes, definitely feed him the pea as above. If he wont eat it, just starve him for one day to help him get rid of any blockage. It wont do him any harm. It may be just food/constipation but it may be dropsy. If you see any pineconing (protusion of his scales) when you look down at him it may be. In the meantime everyone here has given you good advice, - assume its just that his gut is backed up and see if it can be emptied! mmmmm

Thank weeqt I will try the pea .. Hopefully he is just constipated.. xx

 Yeah Lee .. I dont think it is dropsy as his scales arnt pineconing (yet) I hope he is just blocked up.. I noticed to that his gills dont open because he is so fat.. and I dont know if he can flare.. xx

he looks like a really eggy female, but he is a he, so lets hope for constipation, dont feed him for a few days and do the pea as suggested

Oh Heather that is really sad, brought a lump to my throat. But, at least he had some time with you in nice clean water, good on you for looking after him. I have one I rescued at the moment that looks really tatty. Sometimes their little bodies can only take so much. :good:
