New Lighting Box

I just made a new lighting box with 4 large flourescent lights for my 55 Gallon planted discus aquarium because I figured teh reason my plants were dieing is because they weren't haveing enought light. Now that one side is done, should I make another box for the other side with not as many plants and another one for my 20 Gallon aquarium? P.S is flourscent red lights good for plants?
