Hi,
I am am planning on getting another 4 Geo' sp Red/Orange Head Tapajos on Saturday which are only 1" in length at the mo.

I am wondering whether I could just add these guys (after a week of quarantine) into my 5ft tank or would it be best to grow them a little first?

My main tanks stocking is this:
  • 1 x Honduran Red Point (male) at 4"
  • 1 x Firemouth (male) at 4"
  • 1 x Port Acara (male) at 4"
  • 1 x Geophagus sp. "Red/Orange Head Tapajos" (male) at 3"
  • 4 x Peppered Cory
  • 3 x Oto
  • 1 x BN (Male)
Do you think that in a group they'll be okay? Is it not worth the risk?

Thanks for any guidance!

after qt I would add them straight away.

Just what I wanted to hear :)

I assume that's because they're a hardy fish and in a group they'll be safer?

I've made a decision on new stocking now and I will be putting only SA cichlids in, first these and then some of Star4's Rotkeils *fingers crossed*. The HRP will go into the old tank to breed with a female eventually and the Firemouth to a friend who wants to replace once she lost...atleast that's the plan at the mo :)

There is nothing in there likely to try to eat them, the sooner you add them and let them settle is best IMO.

Me thinks I am being a tad protective aye!

They are nippy blighters so can dodge any aggression anyway...and like you say is they grow in the tank they'll settle better and be wise to all the goings on anyway

Thanks again

How much are they buddy?

Where are you based anyway? Not sure if they'll deliver, I'll be finding out when I go there.

By all accounts they get a regular supply, I bought one in Jan there and now there are more...I think maybe they get the fry from their own adults in a super sized floor to ceiling tank they have.
