In my opinion, yes. I currently have a salvini, convict and a bristlenose none of which are larger than 3.5" in a 35g and it looks cramped. I'll be moving them to a 50g.

Also, having a female convict and a male firemouth is only going to lead to one thing.. breeding. and in a 35g, they'll cause some pain to the other occupants.

so i shouldnt keep all of those guys? what suggestions do you have then? would like to get some cichlids that would fit in their

I'd drop the blue acara and, unless you want the breeding, go for the same sex cons and firemouths.

i think if u really want discus fish go for it ..........

u learn by your mistakes i think .....

IMO there not hard at tall touch wood never had one die on me yet...

rules are keep tank clean
have a few discus books handy
keep water warm 30 deg i perfer
a mild current in the tank
and need a air stone
did i say keep tank clean lol

lots of people will disagree with me, but hey
but really your tank should be at least 6 months old for a muture tank ...

go for it mate

I think the main reason I would be so careful with discus is because they're so expensive.. You can get other fish for pennies compared to discus.

i agree if you buy them from a pet shop, £45 each there asking for 4" near me ...

if you find a local breeder you can get them from as little as £2 each .....

I would love to find Discus that cheap! I would find a way to get my spare 80 gallon running if I could get them that cheap.

Hold on stop on the disc subject.

matt has a 35g a breeding pair in only possible for that. matt cannot get a breeding pair so hes not getting discus.. so he wants something else tbh i think 1 firemouth nd 1 blue acra wil be fine

and no con? i can live with that.lol  could i put any tetras in there along with them or would the fm and blue acara attack them? yeah dont think any breeders for discus are near me
