Well, I just bought a new betta! He's a calm little guy, but curious and friendly. He's got sort of a yellowish body with a pink tail and red spots on the tail. I put his bowl beside Kenni's but right when Kenni saw him he started flaring and swimming around the bowl like crazy. The other guy was calm and didn't even flare. Now Kenni's just sitting still and flaring at him. Do you think it's better if I put the bowls apart from each other? And please give me some name suggestions...

Well I just checked on them and they're fine. Kenni isn't flaring anymore, the new guy is but only a little bit. They are so different though. Kenni is big with short fins and no name is little with long fins... Still looking for a name!

Congrats on the new fellow! Sounds like you are learning the basic of Betta: they are soooo individual! The little devils! lol

I would make sure they each have a space to retreat to, hide and rest where they cannot see each other.

Looking forward to pics!

I just checked on the new guy, who I named Kyle...
I had noticed before, but I didn't think it was too serious, now I've decided to ask if there's something wrong with him. He has a thin black outline on his scales and has a black line on the outside of his tail. He's not acting weird or anything. Also, I see a red line at the base of the tail... I think I heard of a disease like that before... not sure...

Only septecema: a bacterial infection causing red streaking under the skin. I doubt that is it. You would recognize it as bad right away.

It really would help if you could get a good pict.

Check a few Betta desease sites, for instance BettaTalk: here

Could they be some natural colouring aswell?
When you said a black line, my first thought was that. My eddie has like a black edging to his tail.

I agree, photo would definitely help! (Besides, you can't post about a new fish without showing us! ;))
