New Guppy Fry

Hi,

This is my first Post, I just the site it has been really very helpful for a newbie like me.

I just had 55 GUPPY fry yesterday afternoon. It was really very exciting seeing her drop the fry.

I will post pictures soon.

if youwant to raise them then i suggest seperating them either into there own tank or a floating breeder alternitively you could go down the survival of the fittist route either way any problems just ask and good luck with them :good:

Initially I kept them in a Plastic Breader, but I felt as though they were escaping, so I trasnfered them to a Net Breader. I feel they will be much safer in there.

I have had newborn sordtails escape before, ut i dont know how. Only had probs with the swords. They may be taking the route of the parents( the sky's the limit).

Have 16 guppy fry in a breeder net in my partners tank at present, i think its ideal for the first few weeks of there life, allows you too set up a second tank ( if thats your intention ) or just too get them to a size they won't be eaton. but allowing you too feed them separate but still be in a stable inviroment. good choice

55 fry?!?

Wow, you must be doing something right! I think my top drop was 20 or so! Great job!! Congrats to you and your momma fish!!

Thanks a lot for the encouragement everyone. I am not sure what I am doing right though as I just too new to this hobby.

I just kept the Fry in the net to save as many as I can as I found a few being sucked into the Power Filter and a Few being eaten away. Atleast in the Net they seem to be safe as I have not seen any of them die since then.

Congarts! Although I suggest moving them out of the net breeder soon, 55 fry should have their own tank.

i agree i wouldn't put more than 10 in a breeder, a seperate tank would be best, doesn't have to be big maybe a 3-5 gal

I kept my first 3 batches in a very large home-made breeder net and they still came out smaller than all my batches since then. Can't wait for the pix!
