I got 2 new girlies Friday as I only had one left from a group of sisters. Rosie, Queen of the Deep, let the new girls know she was in charge....
Today, one of the new girls stuck herself right down under a rock and when I went to take her out, I saw she'd stuck her head, nose first, right down into the substrate. She'd been striping and not eating so it was easy to see how stressed she was.. The other one who appears to be more frail is eating and happy. Needless to say the one under the rock didn't make it. I thought about taking her out and putting her in a little critter keeper box but that's another change of scene and atmosphere for her and it would have made her struggle even more. I've never seen a fish off themselves in such a manner.. Anyone else ever seen this?
:rip: :byebye:

We got a couple of kuhlii loaches a while ago. They did NOT like being in our tank. We got 3 total... 2 of them got themselves stuck under one of the decor and died :\ while the other died of stress.

One of my betta girls Bluebell (RIP) would get herself stuck in the CO2 ladder. There's a very tiny little hole in the back/bottom of the ladder and her fat butt would find a way to squeeze into it.
About scared me to death finding her wedged inside of it. She did this twice before I could find something to close the hole.

Your girl could've been trying to hide or just being a curious little thing and got herself into a situation she couldn't wiggle out of. Poor girl :(
