I was thinking of getting an ADF; but I decided it wouldn't be fair to put it in the 2.5 with Alpha. Just not enough room. I'm eventually going to get a 5 gal for Alpha and when I get that, then I'll get the ADF

Anyway, what do you think about Ghost Shrimp?

The Petco near me has them for .50 each and I was thinking of getting two

Even if it doesn't work out, Alpha will have a tasty treat lol

Plus, they'll eat the old food off the gravel so it'll help keep the tank clean :D

It's a fine idea. :) If they aren't eaten, they'll enrich your bettas life by serving as entertainment. I commend your attitude on not getting an ADF for a small tank.. Considering both parties is always a good idea.
Hope things go great for your betta, whichever tank mate you decide.

Thanks :)

Well, I went and got them

The release went without incident, Alfie didn't even notice them lol

"Excuse me, but what are you doing in my tank?"

Very cute. :) I'm sure they'll adjust to your tank wonderfully. They're fascinating buggers to watch.

They are fun to watch. Alfie has decided he likes chasing them  . He's gonna scare the poor things to death

At least he isn't going to be bored now lol

And Alfie pestering one

I think I should warn you - Despite how fast the little buggers are, if any part of them gets seriously bitten (Tail, leg, antenna) they seem to die.
They're extremely delicate creatures in my experience, so check for shrimp every day. A dead one can poison the water very quickly. :)

Edit: Oh. Be warned, they molt and leave skins that LOOK like a dead shrimp, but real dead ghost shrimp are no longer transparent - They become opaque white, or even pink when they die. :)

Thanks :)

They are very cute! I'm going to be getting some shrimps for one of my boys' tanks since they look very cute imo. Congarts on your new additions :)

Tatsu, my first betta, ate my ghost shrimp casper. I'm going to get an ADF for my 10 gal.

ADFs can be great choices for tank mates. :) Make sure he has a hidey hole so the frog can hide when he wants. :D

Edit: Wait, is your 10 gallon filtered with a current?

Yeah, but Tatsu and Jiaolong both have their own little 2 gal hex tanks. I have two black skirt tetras in the 10 gal but I'm sure the ADF can handle them.

It's not the fish that worry me.
ADFs aren't good with 'currents' caused by filters, it can stress them out. I would consider getting an ADF for the non filtered tanks, if there's any current caused by the filter.
ADFs prefer still water. :)

I feel bad for them cause he's picking on them so much. I'm going to go get another small plant that has small, close together leaves so they will have a better place to hide.

His tank is right next to my computer; so I look over at him all the time. I'll be able to see if they are dead

Thanks sweetie...you give the best advice and are very nice about it :flowers:
