Dangerous dan and meself went aorund the shops in enfield today and managed to spend a fair bit.

I only got 2 fish, a sturgeon cat and a polypterus lapradei.

neither are exactly pristine condition, the sturgeon cat has a few ripped fins and a bent whisker but seems fine, bloody thing got stuck in the net when i was moving him into the tank. The bichirs tail has a large chunk out of it , probable just 1 of the other bichirs in there.

here we goo.....

and the bichir, sorry about the dark pics, forgot to move the light unit forwards again...

Let me guess, the sturgeon cat came from Maidenhead Aquatics and the bichir from Wildwoods :p

Nice fish, i nearly bought the sturgeon cat myself to replace mine that got eaten but the mrs steered me away from the counter a bit sharpish

you got it!

you lost yours? how and when!!??

wildwoods had some nice looking ones aswell but 5 quid less and half the size i went for maidenheads! I almost bought the gulper catfish at wildwoods aswell but resisted.

How big of a tank are those guys in?
They're really cool!

the cats gone in my 60x32x24 and the bichir is in a 4x2x2

just put some food in and the bichir gulped 2 large lance fish down straight away. the cat was a bit less interested in food though, still a tad nervy.

Is Wildwoods really worth the EXACTLY 200 mile round trip to Wildwoods? You guys seem to go on about it...

Ben

I bought a 3" "giant freshwater prawn" for our sons little community tank but it ate all his corys so i moved it to my grow out tank where all the fish were bigger than it, then the (insert swear) ate my sturgeon cat so i fed it to the arowana.

Catch it on the right day and it can be like Aladins cave of fish for someone with some tankspace and a couple of hundred quid in their pocket, particually if you like unusual catfish and predatory oddballs. You do have to keep an eye on the stocklist on tropical fish finder and phone in advance if there is anything particular you want though, some days it can seem just like a better than average LFS if you go after a busy week/weekend and they are between shipments.

hmm, can i really be bothered today (day off)...

Any fish shops you would reccomend in Brum/Bristol/ South West?

 but that's kinda funny in a non funny way

Awesome fish Paul !
When (one day) I have a tank large enough, I'd love to have a sturgeon too
