Hello my name is Rich and I'm fairly new to aquarium and fish maintaing. Currently I have a 29 gallon tank. I have a albino plecto, a glass cat, a black ghost (he's truly a ghost; I've only got a few glimpses of him) 5 Dalmatian mollies, dwarf gourami, and a big black angle fish maybe 6".
Unfortunately my joining of this forum is because of a recent incident with my angle fish. I performed a water change and turned off the light, which I usually do after a cleaning to reduce stress. Upon returning to the tank a few hours later I noticed the angle hiding in a hole in a rock. I noticed she wasn't moving much, I decided to leave her alone assuming she was scared or stressed. After returning another hour or so later I realized something was wrong, I decided to see if I could possibly see what's up. Taking a closer look I could see she was stuck. I was a little worried anytime I got close she would just swim forward deepening her self. After trying some friendly and gentile ways to remove her with no luck; I figured I had to just make it quick and fast. I felt terrible and I could tell she wasn't happy. Long story short I got her out. She seems to be doing ok, swimming, eating (slowly) and for the most part acting normal. However, she has suffered some damage. Her left eye is scratched and appears cloudy, the top of her head is scratched, she has multiple scratches on her body, and few nicks on her upper and tail fins, and she is now missing one of her really long front lower fins. Personally I feel bad but I'd rather have her free than sitting there stuck and scared. My question is there anything I should do? Anything to make her recovery easier or more comfortable, is there anything I should do I terms of adding anything to her diet or water. I can take some pictures if that would help. I feel bad for this gal she's my fav she's always hurting herself. I feel she's suffered enough I would just like to help her recover comfortably.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to contributing and being a part of this community of fish enthusiast.
