a rearing tank is just a spare tank you put the baby/ young fish into so they can grow up without being eaten by other bigger fish.

Oh was thinking about a breeder tank.

Won't they get sucked up into the filter?
 
Use an air operated sponge filter in the breeding and rearing tanks so the babies don't get sucked up.

You can use a plastic storage container or any glass aquarium as a rearing tank.

Just to be on the safe side, I will post some pictures later. I have a few snails to relocate.
