what is typical just-introduced-to-a-new-tank fish behavior? what signs say "give them time" and what say "take action?"

my guys always go to the bottom and just sit there or hide behind a plant. sometimes their fins are clamped and i had this go on for 2 days b4 but now they're just peachy

Sometimes, depending on the fish or teh species, they will, go up and down the glass sides, hide out in a cave or near a plant, not eat, stay away from the other fish, ext. I've had fish do this for a little more then a week. If they aren't better in a week, check the parameters, and feed them live foods to get them adjusted. Good Luck!

thanks for the help. i just bought a blue ram and love him to pieces , except that i'm worried about him...right now he's just puffing on the bottom with all his fins out. he is out though and i was expecting him to go into semi-permanent hiding. before he went in the parameterswere perfect. we'll see how he does in the next few days. thanks for the info :).
