Hi well after taking most of my big fish to the LFS this morning I had a look round and found a group of these in the back room. Causing me a bit of confusion but Im fairly happy with what I think they are but more on that in a sec first pics!

Right to the confusion! I know what most will say when they see them - they are Altums but I am 90% certain they are not. Me being me could not just go for regular angels so I got these :D They were imported as Leopoldi which they may well be but interestingly Wildwoods is selling long nosed Leopoldi I reckon these are a regional variant of Pterophyllum leopoldi. Still not 100% but we shall see as they grow. They were imported from Peru and I seem to recall hearing about a fish called the Peruvian Angel a few years ago that had the pointy nose of an aultum and the more solid bars like an altum but they only got to the size of a scalarae.... but like I say we will see.

I picked out the most obvious pair from the group of 5 I would have quite liked to get the full group but not got the tank size with my current fish and it seemed quite obvious that these two did not like their comrades.

Congrats! :) there really nice ,maybe they'll have lots and lots of babies for you :D lol

Nice additions Wills, bet these look great in your gnarly branched setup,
and they look to be Leopoldi IMO, as opposed to the Peruvian Scalare I have seen in the past,

Those are lovely angels you bagged yourself
If you dont mind me asking, how much was each Angelfish, I tend to find Wildwoods overprice their fish -_-

Thanks guys :)

Hi thanks Davo (good to see you here again btw) Glad you can confirm these as I was a bit unsure of it but glad a few think so now.

I got these from Ferrybridge for £19.95 each so £10 less than Wildwoods have them up for but yeah I agree that their fish prices are really high and its often for stuff you dont see anywhere else yet similar species are much less in price but not the same fish (if you see what I mean )

Thanks, time has been a bit short lately, was recently offered the Senior Aquatics position at work which has upped my workload and I've
only just got back from a couple of weeks traveling, (only round Wales though so nothing too exciting)

Just so you know a wild Peruvian Scalare will only ever have 2 bars fully visible (as well as the band through the eye)
whereas a wild Leopoldi can have upto around 7 (i think) visible at one time based on its mood,
