New Filter. Just One Question.

I have just bought a fluval 2 plus internal filter for my tank. The filter i have just replaced was an aquaflow1 (or something like that ). when i first got my fish tank, i cycled it, all was ok. then i bought 6 black neons, i lost 2 on the first night. i identified the problem as being the water wasn't being aeriated. from that point on i have kept the filter outlet at the top of the water so that the fish are getting enought oxygen. A few months later i got this new filter. I do have LOADs more plants since the first fish died, so now i am wondering, can i submerge the fluval, and not use the velocity outlet (or whatever it is).
Any advice would be much apreciated.

You can also get a spray bar for the Fluval plus range (I've had a Fluval 4 + for years and years), which enables you to direct the water at the surface of the tank... so lots of aeration.

I also have a fluval 2+... that little valve thing you get is good for aerating the water but the spray bar is much better as it spreads out the flow into several slightly less powerful outlets across the tank.

This improves circulation and you can aim it upwards so it breaks the surface. Which looks like lots of little waterfalls.

Its also good if you have live plants as before my 2+ practically pinned my cabombas to the glass as i use plants to hide my filter.

The spray bar just moves them slightly giving a cool swaying effect.
