New Channa Orientalis

Got 5 new channa orientalis today they were £7 each but during a bargaining session I got 5 for £25 They are wild caught by the way!

And my old gachuas

Great to see another snakehead project on the go, I WILL get some one day....once done with CA/SA cichlids in a fair few years...or if I can convince the mrs for us to get another tank, I'm working on it sloooowly

What temp do you keep them at? Do you give them a cold spell? From what I have read successful breeding usually occurs after dropping the temp to 16 C for a few weeks then slowly bring the temperature back up! I do not know if it works as mine are still juvies! But soon I hope! I found some info I will pm you the site!

mine bred after having them for 18 months so don;t give up hope Ben!! lol

I didn;t reduce the temp on mine and they were kept indoors in a heated tank but with loads of plants and debris. I hardly changed the water

Are you keeping these fish on their own, or with your gachuas? Nice and interesting looking fish btw!

They are in with the gachuas at the moment until I start getting pairs forming then into their own tank for breeding! All but one are very active today and the colouring is in!

They are all getting on fine no aggression yet! But they are well fed! There is a tank ready for them just in case! one of the orientalis and one gachua are swimming together!? They wont hybridize will they?
