New Black Ghost Knife....and How Can I Make It Live To 5 Years?

i want my black ghost knife to like a long happy life. how can i do it? right now hes about 5 inches. im not 100% sure though.
anyways heres a list of past or present injuries:

scratch on the head (healed)
a little shredded near the tail (still doing fine)
had some weird thing on his chin (fell off)

well thats kinda it. he seems to be going fine along with the fish (but my pictus catfish nudges him out of his cave all the time) and is great with my gourami. his water level and temprature is good. he feeds on frozen blood worms but when he gets older, im gonna feed him goldfish and pellets and bloodworms. surprizingly he lived through a fin rot crisis in my aquarium and is living in his driftwood tunnel. is this a good life for him?

What size tank is he in? Minimum for full size growth for a BGKF is a 5ft tank as these fish can grow upto 14-16".

He shouldnt just be living on bloodworms, he should be on a good pellet food, that would contain everything he needs to keep healthy and grow well, supplemented with bloodworms, shrimp, prawn, mussel, cockle etc. DO NOT feed goldfish, feeder fish are not good for him, wont contain any nutrition and likely contain parasites/disease which can be passed on to the ghost knife.

I'm glad you mentioned this cause i was thinking of getting one for my 125L tank in a few weeks. Better think again.

As said above keep him in a large tank, keep up with your maintenance, stock it sensibly around him and he will live for many years.

The most dangerous times for fish is when tank mates are added to their tank as these can bring in disease. So be vigilent about quarentining the fish you buy.

I;ve always found that they take flake really easily as well which will keep it healthy for its lifetime
